WDW - Disney Times: The First Mickey Mouse Sunday Comic Strip Pin Series

A series of 12 pins reproducing the history of the Mickey Mouse Sunday comic strip. The frame of the pin reads "Disney Times" on the top and "1932" on the bottom. Released on the 15th of each month starting in Nov. 2001 each Pin is individually numbered. The edition size of the series is 3,500.


Pin 8209: Disney Times: The First Mickey Mouse Sunday Comic Strip #1

The first in a series of 12 pins reproducing the first Mickey Mouse Sunday comic strip. The frame of the pin reads "Disney Times" on the top and "1932" on the bottom. The front of the pin shows a confused Mickey who has just been surprised as a yipe-ing dog (which may or may not be Pluto) runs under him and knocks him down. The panel spins around to show a black and white classic Mickey next to the words "Because of the success of the daily Mickey comic strip the paper now runs the first color half page every Sunday. And the story continues!" This limited edition pin is also numbered.

The second in a series of 12 pins reproducing the history of the Mickey Mouse Sunday comic strip. The frame of the pin reads "Disney Times" on the top and "1932" on the bottom. Continued from Comic #1 the front of the pin shows Mickey sitting on the ground after being knocked down by pluto. He has is arms spread and says "Oh Well. I guess that is just another way of starting the day." The panel spins around to show a black and white classic Mickey next to the words "Because of the success of the daily Mickey comic strip the paper now runs the first color half page every Sunday. And the story continues!" This limited edition pin is also numbered.

Although this pin will say #3 on it it is really number 2 while the one that says #2 is really number 3. #3 aka released as #2 is pinpics #8738

The Third in a series of 12 pins reproducing the history of the Mickey Mouse Sunday comic strip. The frame of the pin reads "Disney Times" on the top and "1932" on the bottom. Continued from Comic #2 the front of the pin shows Mickey kneeling on the ground watching a dogcatcher with a net run by. He has his hands on the ground and says "Gosh, What's This." The panel spins around to show a black and white classic Mickey next to the words "Rumor has it that Mickey Mouse was named aboard a train bound for Hollywood. Walt Disney considered 'Moritimer Mouse' but his wife Lillian suggested 'Mickey'." This limited edition pin is also numbered.

Pin 9516: Disney Times: The First Mickey Mouse Sunday Comic Strip #3 (version 2)

The front of this pin is the same as pin #8614. Mickey is sitting on the sidewalk with his hands in the air saying , "Oh, well! I guess that's just another way of starting the day!" However, the reverse side of this version reads "Plane Crazy (1928) was the first Mickey Mouse film produced. It featred a much simple (sic) Mickey than we're used to: no gloves, no shoes, just black feet and hands."
