This pin was given to donors to the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund. (Conservation Station in Animal Kingdom has info about the fund). The pin is not cloisonne, but shows a manatee, parrot, rhino and other enadgered animals. The pin reads "Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund" in a green band around the outside. The band also includes two small Mickey ears. On the back the pin reads "Special Issue, Spring 1998".
This is, indeed, a very rare metalic pin. It was replaced by the large button you can buy for a $1.00 donation at the AK park. Its edition size is very low. It is my understanding that less than 800 were produced.
Another member received this pin in a "package deal" from the Walt Disney Credit Card. For $25 you received a LE AK credit card, you received THIS pin, and you received pin #1013.
This pin is an epoxy coated pin, and is smaller than Pin# 17741, which is an synthetic cloisonne pin. Pin # 17741 is much more difficult to find. |
