Who We Are
Pin Pics was started by Britt Yenne and his wife Susan (a.k.a. Figgy)
in December of 1999. They had just returned from a trip to Walt Disney
World and had become hooked on Disney pin trading. Britt is a
professional software designer who works for
The Kernel Group based in
Austin, Texas. Susan is a domestic goddess whose three employees were
ages five, two, and six months at that time.
Pin Pics officially became "pinpics.com" in January of 2000, and
Frank Lozito of Celebration, Florida, joined the team. Frank also
works in the computer industry, and designed the initial user
interface for Pin Pics while Britt devoted his time to the underlying
database and CGI components. Britt and Frank also collaborated with
Beverly Wilks of Dizpins.Com, our
sister site. Beverly and Dizpins handled news and message boards,
while Pin Pics handled pin information. It was, and continues to be,
a symbiotic relationship.
In the months that followed, Pin Pics quickly outgrew two
different web hosting providers for a variety of reasons including
traffic volume, hacker attack, disk space, and CPU consumption. We were
very lucky to meet Kathryn Bell of
IXC Telecom, a regular
of The DIS. Also avid
Disney pin enthusiasts, Kathryn and her husband Gary own
IXC Telecom and were gracious enough to donate hosting services
for PinPics. IXC Telecom no longer hosts the site,
but this does not reflect upon the contributions they have
made to this community.
Dominic Pereyo, a part time graphic artist from Connecticut,
joined the team in June of 2001. His experience designing
logos, t-shirts, patches, hats, and yes even PINS has been
invaluable in redesigning our site layout and making the site
more visually appealing. Dom designed our awesome PinPics pin,
and will be trying to improve the quailty of the images in the
Pin Pics Database by brightening and clarifying them as much as
possible.
And last but certainly not least, we are all the pin enthusiasts
who contribute to this community so that all may benefit. It couldn't
be done without all of you.
Our goal is to make Pin Pics the definitive repository for
pin information and trading. No pin selling is allowed on Pin Pics,
and we are very restrictive about the use of advertisers (if any)
to recover costs. The only profit from Pin Pics is the
information we all share together, and most agree that it is paying
off much better than anyone originally expected.
